Extended Care
Extended Care
Extended Care is the before and after school program for Highlands Christian Schools.
This supervised program creates a secure, structured environment for our students. The Extended Care staff are caring Christian role models in the lives of students and provide experiences that support the development of the entire child, creating a healthy influence for students. Extended Care is available to all students from Kindergarten to Eight Grade. The program runs from 7:00am – 9:00am and 3:00pm-6:00pm. It is also open during certain school holidays and conference periods.
Every morning the lower grades have worship & prayer time before class begins. In the afternoon, academic, social and physical development are encouraged. The extended care program assists in improving student achievement by expanding learning through a scheduled time for homework, and we provide a variety of fun learning activities that lead children to success in school. There are 30- 45 minutes of outdoor activities and playtime for social and physical development. Daily afternoon snacks are provided for the students. Snacks vary but may include sliced apples, carrots, granola bars, crackers, yogurt or chips and a chilled beverage.
The program’s staff are trained to supervise students, resolve conflicts, to recognize and work with various temperaments. They also provide extracurricular activities like art, singing, storytelling, crafts of various kinds, and games like chess, monopoly and many more of all varieties. Our program seeks to promote positive youth development guiding our students with Christian values, and to academic achievement while supporting our working families. The program supports working families by offering affordable, supervised and engaging environments before and after school for our students. We provide peace of mind for parents and guardians who know their kids are in great hands.
